WOW. If I was to write a one-word review, that would be it. What a fantastic book--so much more than I was even hoping for.
Violette combines some first-person accounts (which serve both as examples and also to provide context for some of the techniques she introduces) with step-by-step artistic technique tutorials and rich, juicy, vibrant illustrations. The total effect is joyful, fun, engaging, and contagiously inspiring. I just got my , book today but I had to write this right away because I am enjoying it so much. Thank you, Violette! Great job!

This is the best book I have purchased in years. It is instructional in a very entertaining way. There are many journaling prompts but I expecially liked the tutorials - one on drawing uncomplicated faces; doodles; borders; lettering; nature. It's wonderful if you are just starting to art journal or if you have journaled for a long time and just want to refresh your soul. Completely enjoyable.
